World Summit Award

The World Summit Award (WSA) is a global contest for selecting and promoting the world's best e-contents and applications. It sees the bridging of the Digital Divide and narrowing of the Content Gap as its overall goal and - as of today - involves representatives from 168 countries on each continent. Putting its focus on cultural identity and diversity, the WSA looks for multimedia projects that effectively and creatively work with quality contents and digitalize educational, scientific and cultural heritage. It is held in the framework of and in cooperation with the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS).

Being an active participant in the WSIS activities, the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) developed its national competition in e-content "The Award of Egypt for E-Content", under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. The competition included the following areas: e-learning, e-culture and civilization, scientific electronic applications, e-government, e-health, e-business, e-entertainment applications and e-containment.

The names of the first ranking winners in those disciplines were sent to the World Summit Award jury which selected winners from 168 countries. In the e-culture discipline, Eternal Egypt was among the declared winners and is to receive the award at the World Summit on the Information Society, Tunis 2005. http://www.eternalegypt.org

The award will be presented to the Center for Documentation of Cultural and Natural Heritage (CULNAT) at the World Summit Award Gala that will take place on November 16th at 18:30. It will also be showcased at the WSA Exhibition throughout the exhibition; November 16th till 18th, 2005.
