WSIS Phase - I, Geneva 10 - 12 December 2003
- More than 11,000 participants from 175 countries attended the Summit and related events.
- 50 heads of state/government and vice-presidents.
- 82 ministers.
- 26 vice-ministers and heads of delegations as well as high-level representatives from international organizations, private sector and civil society.
- Outcome of Geneva phase:
- WSIS Declaration of Principles.
- WSIS Plan of Action.
- Egypt participated intensively in the different preparatory events and meetings for the WSIS on three different levels:
- Arab Level:
- Regional Preparatory Conference for Western Asia, ESCWA, Beirut, 4-6 February 2003.
- Arab Working Group on WSIS meetings, League of Arab States.
- Pan Arab Regional Conference on WSIS (Arab African Dialogue) 16 - 18 June, 2003 hosted in Cairo.

- Egypt's Participation in ICT4D Exhibition in WSIS 1st Phase
- Egypt's participation in ICT4D Exhibition, which is one of the main parallel events in the WSIS 1st Phase, was very remarkable as it showed to the participants and the visitors of the exhibition the four main initiatives of Egypt : PC for Every Home, Free Internet, IT Clubs and Broadband on 100 m2 . Moreover, Egypt took part in ITU Membership Stand in the main summit area.
