The Ministry of state for Administrative Development (MSAD) was established in 1976 to take suitable measures to enhance the efficiency of the state administrative machinery and modernize public services.

MSAD aims at achieving Egypt's ambitious plans to improve the quality and efficiency of the public services and to avail government services online by June 2007. Moreover, it is working to enhance government readiness to accept the implemented local program and to efficiently integrate in the global community, using communications and information technology.

MSAD's main programs are the Governmental Institutions Development Program and the E-Government program.

The Egyptian culture is of a worldwide interest and significance due to its continuity over more than seven thousand years. It started as early as prehistoric times and flourished during the Pharaonic, Greco-roman, Coptic and Islamic periods. Therefore, it encompasses various aspects of human civilization, monitors the development of human heritage and represents a cultural heritage of national and international value. Moreover, the material culture associated with the archaeological sites in Egypt amounts to a considerable percentage of the world cultural heritage. There is an increasing need to adopt measures towards the documentation and preservation of this unique cultural heritage.

On the other hand, Egypt possesses a wide variety of natural resources representing various habitats and a wealth of animal, bird and plant species. Some of these sites and organisms are already protected while others suffer from various dangers and threats. They all need to be accurately and purposefully documented.

Objectives:

  • The implementation of the national plan of action towards the documentation program, making use of the most up-to-date information technology in collaboration with the national and international specialized organizations.
  • Increasing public awareness of the cultural and natural heritage using all available media.
  • Capacity building of professionals in the fields of conservation and documentation of cultural and natural heritage.

The Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) is a governmental entity established via Law 15 of the year 2004. The agency aims at paving the way for the diffusion of e- business services in Egypt capitalizing on different mandates of the authority as activating the Egyptian e- signature law and supporting an export-oriented IT sector in Egypt . Being a governmental entity, the ITIDA generally aims at contributing in the development of the Egyptian ICT industry through achieving the following:

Objectives:

  • Increasing exports of ICT products and services.
  • Regulating the electronic signature related activities.
  • Supporting and encouraging e-business in Egypt , especially among the small and medium enterprises.
  • Guiding and encouraging investments in the ICT sector.
  • Supporting R&D in the ICT sector and implementing its output.

Objectives:

The unique role of the Library of Alexandria, as that of a great Egyptian Library with international dimensions, will focus on four main aspects that seek to recapture the spirit of the originial ancient Library of Alexandria. It aspires to be:

  • The world's window on Egypt;
  • Egypt's window on the world;
  • A leading institution of the digital age; and, above all,
  • A center for learning, tolerance, dialogue and understanding.

The Women Business Development Center (WBDC) is a sustainable resource for women entrepreneurs & young women seeking employment with access to training, business counseling, information and sourcing of finance WBDC is one of several NCW development projects designed to achieve the economic empowerment of women as set forth in NCW mandate. The WBDC, was initiated through cooperative protocols between NCW and the US Agency for International Development (USAID).

Objectives:

  • To be a "One-Stop-Shop" providing women clientele with the tools and skills to establish small businesses, or enter the Egyptian labor force well prepared via training, mentoring, and business information services.
  • To increase women's participation in the Egyptian labor force by providing female graduates of universities and technical schools with the required skills for workforce development.

The National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) is a national authority to administer the telecommunications sector considering transparency, open competition , universal service and protection of user rights as a general outline for NTRA scope of work.

NTRA was established with a purpose of regulating the telecommunication sector, improving its services and expanding the usage thereof. NTRA operates with a manner that keeps pace with state of the art technology, satisfies all needs of users at the most reasonable prices and encourages national and international investments in telecommunications within the framework of open competition rules.

Objectives:

  1. Ensure that telecommunications services reach all areas of the country
  2. Protect national security and higher state interests
  3. Ensure optimum use of frequency spectrum
  4. Assure the compliance of the state approved provisions of international agreements and issued resolutions by regional and international organizations
  5. Monitor technical and economic efficiency programs for all telecommunications services

National Post Organization:

The National Post Organization is the largest service organization in Egypt. It was established in 1865 and in 1901 started providing financial services by issuing saving accounts. The National Post Organization covers all Egyptian governorates. It has 34 districts, over 3500 government post offices and over 6000 agent offices. NPO also has over 114 sorting and handling centres. The fleet consists of over 1300 wagons and small cars.

The number of employees is over 45000, 50% of them work in the offices and over 5000 are postmen.

The main services offered by NPO mainly include mail services such as normal mail, air mail, registered mail and express mail. The financial services cover current accounts, saving accounts, money transfers and other services like collection and bill payments.

The number of saving accounts exceeded 13.5 million last year and the total deposit exceeded 32 billion Egyptian pounds.
